Sustainable Pallet Containment – Transportation and Storage

The need for sustainable packaging.

As the huge shift in e-commerce continues to rise, businesses are looking for alternative ways to package deliveries in order to reduce single-use plastics and waste. Did you know that back in 2021, the volume of eco-friendly packaging used worldwide reached 31.5 million tonnes?

Governments worldwide are implementing changes to encourage the use of sustainable packaging. The UK has announced that businesses will now have to foot the bill on the full cost of waste, as a new tax will be implemented to help reduce unsustainable plastic packaging.

But what makes packaging sustainable?

In a nutshell, sustainable packaging is any eco-friendly material used to ship, protect and store your products.

For example, if you are looking to secure pallets in storage and during shipping, our paper strapping is an ideal alternative to plastic strapping and is made from sustainably sourced paper, is 100% recyclable and also compostable.

Polypropylene and polyester strapping is made from more than 98% recycled content and although it is 100% recyclable it does require responsible waste management.

What is pallet containment?

A pallet is a transportable rigid platform that is used to transport goods, made from plastic, timber or metal. They are often used in warehouse facilities to improve operational efficiencies, allowing the easy movement of stacked products. Pallet containment is the securing or containing of stacked products on pallets to enable safe transportation of these goods. Not all pallet containment is considered sustainable and there is increased pressure on UKs supply chain to reduce single-use packaging and transition to a more sustainable operation.

The different types of Timber Pallets

There are several options to choose from when you are looking to ship your products, new and used pallets are an ideal option. Our Timber Pallets are made from sustainable sources and are reusable, enabling them to be used many times to reduce single-use packaging. We have different sizes of pallets available including half euro size 800x600mm, euro size 1200x800mm and standard pallets 1200x1000mm.

Plastic Pallet Boxes:

For an eco-friendly way to ship your products, returnable and Reusable Plastic Pallet Boxes are the perfect option. Made from recycled plastic, a folding plastic pallet box can be reused again and again then recycled when they come to the end of their life. We supply them flat packed, avoiding bulky delivery which reduces your carbon footprint. We can also add printing to show your sustainability credentials and your brand to help raise awareness of your corporate environmental efforts.

Cardboard Pallet Boxes:

Our Cardboard Pallet Boxes are an ideal option. These are manufactured with paper from a sustainable source, using 70% recycled paper. A cardboard pallet box can either be used again or recycled once they have been used, helping to reduce your single use plastic consumption.
